20 Minute Work Out

Post by Valmont »

Hey guys, I'm not too interested in going to the gym because as long as I'm not hugely overweight I'm not to fussed about having muscle and all that. But interested in how the brain responds to exercise and releases chemicals and a simple home routine can help and stuff.

So was wondering if anyone had any good home exercises, prefrably without equipment?

You can do squads without any weights, push ups, hand stand push ups (highly recommended), hand release push ups, sit-ups, plank and L-sit-ups.

If I were you I would write random numbers of reps in pieces of papers and pull them from a bowl to create a fun random work out.

Lets say 15 min of
40 squats,30 push ups,20 sit-ups
or
As many rounds as possible in 10 mins
50 situps,10 handstand pushups , 15 squads

If you have a bar at you home/garage, you can do pull ups as well.

You can watch demos of the movements here

Bump what Spacedust said.

I also have done something similar with my brother.

50-50-50-3-3

50 push-ups
50 sit-ups
50 squats
3 minutes skipping
3 minutes shadow boxing (or using a double end bag)

Doesn't necessarily have to be done in one shot. My brother would do the some of the exercises in his dress clothes at work on a break.

This won't get you ripped. But it can help you keep a baseline if you're short on time.

Think about getting a kettlebell too.

I've had mine since 2004.

Easy to pound out some swing and 3-4 more exercises in a very short period of time and feel it

I hate going to a member gym.
Respectfully,

Dumb bells or Kettle-bells and a set of reasonable trainers is all you really need. The combinations to exercise just about every muscle group are there, it's a question of maintaining good form and technique. Some people need other people watching, to motivate them to exercise, although I go to the local gym, I find the tv' and radio a vacuous distraction

This is not shameless self promotion but for kettlebells check out skogg gym. Thats where I got my kettlebell level 1 cert. A few crossfit gyms were impressed with my kettlebell knowledge.

There core dvd is badass I bought it even after working there.
