Cx4 vs pistol.

Post by James Bond »

Lately I've been thinking. For last ditch home/self defence which would be preferable: a 9mm pistol or a cx4. My thinking is the cx4 is basically a 9mm pistol with a 14" barrel (actually a short barrel semi auto rifle). Giving the cx4 greater power, less recoil, greater range and accuracy. Also still shoots cheap commonly available 9mm ammo and uses standard beretta mags.

The only down side I can see is it's not quite as maneuverable. Is this a valid concern?

I'm not concerned with concealing it as I don't plan on doing concealed carry with it. And it will be locked up anyway (legal reasons) so it doesn't have to fit in a desk drawer.

curious how you landed on these two for your one self defense firearm?

For the price of a cx4, you have quite a few options

And have you thought much about shotguns as home defense?

IMO

if using a handgun round, buy a handgun

if buying a long gun, get a long gun caliber= 556/223 or 12 gauge

other stuff is fun/cool- but those are the primary ones

Ok. Seems pretty straight forward. And it might save me money too. Shotguns are pretty cheap compared to anything else.

Yes, Shotgun is absolutely great aside from being cheap it is easy to carry, that is why I prefer to use it for a self defense.
