Getting back into coaching/MMA

Post by Xerces »

I retired from competition a couple years ago. Then quit altogether. Its been about a year since I did any serious martial arts training. The last bit being private boxing lessons.

I think I linked too many of my problems with fighting and training. A negative anchor if you will.

But I have always loved training and through my work with pickup and personal development I think I can fully love it again.

Called up a gym owner I know and volunteered to coach a class or two a week for free.

Im excited!

It's great that your giving back. Too many fighters walk away from the sport, and never give anything back, even though they took a lot out of it. Coaching and fighting competitively are completely different, but both are rewarding in different ways. Most importantly...have fun with it!

They walk away because they actually want to get paid. Haha.

I would love to coach again.

But I also like to get paid.

I agree with Techfall 100 percent. Coaching is still a job and if they want lots of classes and some of my prime hrs there will be talk of payment. Once a week for access to the gym etc.. is fine with me though.

Also its a great DHV. I gave a girl a kettlebell lesson as a first date once. Later closed her. Total time spent was about two hours from open to close lol.
