Acne Treatment

Post by Kaboom »

Hey guys,

Just wanted to pass this along.

For anyone with acne issues, or just feels a zit coming along and you want to get ride of it before it gets worse, their is an oil you can dab on it that helps reduce redness and tenderness of the zit.

It's called tea tree oil.

Used some yesterday on a tender spot on my face that was going to become a zit. Today it's gone.

I know you can get it at the body shop for maybe $10.

Make sure you get the diluted kind. Tea tree oil in undiluted will burn your face...

When I was younger, I would have one side of my face covered in zits. Then when it cleared up, the other side would break out. It was a bitch to say the least. I found out that in my case, my head turned out to be oily (even though I couldn't feel it), so I switched to a shampoo and conditioner that dries my head out. I also started using Clean and Clear 3 set treatment (moisturizer, cleanser, concentrated zit targeting drops) and I'm totally clear. For some reason, if I wet my hands before application (as it says on the bottles), it doesn't work as effectively.

Even today at 26, if I go two days without either, I start to break out, so I would HIGHLY recommend using the Clean and Clear 3 pack. You can get it at Safeway for $20 and it lasts me usually between 6-8 months, so WELL worth the money.

I always stand by Accutane.

Shit cleared me up in high school. I haven't had a major problem with zits since.

I heard awesome stuff about accutane as far as clearing acne....But doesn't it have some pretty nasty side effects?

I've heard and read some stuff.

It can effect some people's liver, that's why I had to get blood tested once a month to makes sure it wasn't doing any funky things to me. I've heard of it causing depression but I don't believe it.

Girls who are on it are made to go on birth control because it can deform babies.

Also dries the hell out of your skin and and makes you more sensitive to the sun. Blah blah blah

Originally it was tested as a weight loss drug before it was an acne treatment. The results were inconsistent but for me it brought my cholesterol level to some ridiculous small level - positive side effect.

Still I stand by it lol

I got a little home remedy that my brother told me about. It works pretty well for me. so pick two nights a week and cut up a fresh lemon and rub that on your face, it might tingle and sting a little but it has most of the same acids that you find in acne washs and cremes

I began to get bad skin at 24 and still have it a bit now. To the above guy about the tea tree oil... I have had a few dermatologist say if you are a guy you dont want to use it. Could be BS but I stayed away from it. I just use whatever my dermatologist recommends. If you can find a dr that will allow you to take accutane I would do it. there is very severe side effects to it but if you go to your dr regularly they can make sure you are ok. The 3 dermatologist i went to wouldnt put me on it.
