Even though I live in Florida and I can remember having to take buckets of water out of my pool as a teenager to flush toilets during the hurricanes of the early 2000's, I found myself now a 28 year old homeowner and my own home being woefully unprepared.
I immediately went out and bought two weeks of water for myself and my dog, as well as an extra month of dog food to rotate and replace out of my garage as he eats it.
However, as I mostly eat and cook fresh food, my own emergency food supply it really low outside of some canned vegetables.
Any recommendations on what to store in terms of a two week food supply? MRE recommendations? Dry beans?
I am planning to buy a small propane camping stove to heat things up and boil water so I should be able to prepare something decent.

Really quick:
Look up MSR and Jetboil camping stoves... they are very packable and light weight if you ever have to bu out.
Two week food supply for bugging in... you will need more protein. Things like:
Spam/Luncheon
Corned Beef
Canned Tuna
For lightweight packability you have options for MRE's such as mountain house... very good brand and price.
I've tried different brands and prefer mountainhouse.
Things that are high energy and containers... peanut butter is important.

Thanks for the reply! Going to look into what you recommended. I am thinking some canned tuna and chicken to supplement my canned veggies (since I normally eat that anyways and will be able to rotate it) as well as investing in the propane stove and some MREs.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Ice nailed it
and to clarify, MRE= Meal Ready to Eat
Mountain house, you have to rehydrate, and tastes GOOD!
I'd stock up on some buckets or boxes of Mountain House, the stuff lasts for like 10-30 years.
Then just find some decent canned/basic to cook stuff that you CAN eat IF needed, and then rotate in and out.
eg. some GOOD cans of soup, boxes of pasta and jars of sauce..etc
Ice- I got the Solo Stove, it burns wood and love it. But got a jetboil too recently FOR this stuff!

What are you guys thoughts on the solo stove vs something like a bushbox outdoor pocket stove?
I like that it folds up and doesn't take much space for a bug out bag or or a pack.

Re: Food and water prep for a disaster
dont think bushbox will get secondary burn like Solo...so one be as hot or as smokeless
but seen it online and looks like good idea
I like solo because it fits in the cup that it comes with, so really 0 additional space
