Furniture for new apartment

Post by Kid Brock »

Got the keys to my new apartment today. Looking for furniture tomorrow.
I really like a microfiber faux suede couch with loveseat and a round swivel chair. It is a nice soft material, and 2 can easily fit in the round swivel chair.

Any recommendations on types of furniture for living room and bedroom?

I like modern furniture, and you can get them at a deal at the right place right time.

I had dark brown faux leather furniture $350 for couch, $150 for a one piece seat and with a $10 ikea table. Looked good, and it doesn't stain when you have a girl over for wine.

If you are getting a new bed, get a GOOD one - with a pillow top mattress too, with comfy pillows.

Every girl that's been on my bed has said my bed feels like clouds and how much they love being in it. I got it on sale and a good deal, and sooo worth it. Think I paid $1000 for bed and $50 per pillow.

Get sexy sheets too, higher thread count the better, over 500 is good, over 750 is better. They say egyptian cotten is great, but don't need it - my sheets are good enough. Think I paid $100 for good sheets.

And don't buy hotel brand because they lie about their thread count and are nowhere close - it's been proven. You can tell too because it feels like rough shit.

Last Saturday I got new living room and bedroom furniture. Got Sealy pillow top mattress on sale for $850. Pillows were $80 each and very nice.

For the sheets, I am thinkin of getting 2-3 different solid colors that I can Mix and match. 750 or higher thread count. Are the best places to get nice sheets department stores like Nordstrom and Macy's? Or are there some well known brands I may be able to get cheaper on Amazon?

For my living room, I plan to get a world map art on wood. It looks nice, and I will highlight the countries I have been to, so It is a DHV prop.

I was thinking of putting a few framed certifications around also. Like my dog training certification, Marine Corps Mixed Martial Arts belt certifications, Wilderness Survival training certification, mixed in with some art. Or should I just stick with art?

Nice.

I'll take a look for what my brand is.

I use the same colour for my bed. In the winter I have a gooood comfy duvet with a quality duvet cover = more like a cloud.

And

I wouldn't put those certificates in the living room/bedroom just because it doesn't add anything for the atmosphere/feel of the room.

I'm a minimalist when it comes to that stuff

Could have a feature wall - where one wall is coloured different than all the others = contrasting colours stand out

If wanting a relaxed feel, add things that would help create that. Ie. Bambo, waterfall, diming lights

Art that helps create the ambiance would also work. Not sure about world map of art though - that gets me thinking about studying and how I'm not doing it right now. Maybe it would look different if on a piece of wood? Not sure - do you have a pic?

If you've got stuf that can easily lead to a DHV story, then by all means use it!

If that map can lead to stories of your travels, then I'd use it.

I have a post on McGuffins where guys have shared some of their unique furnishings that lead to DHV stories and sex. You should read through the entire thread to be inspired!

Gotta agree with Ice on the importance of quality sheets. I get mine at Ross stores, Nordstrom Rack, and outlet stores, where you can get high-quality name brand without the added cost ;)

Finally, some fun stuff I learned from Bay:

Have a shake weight lying around the living room. Don't laugh; it may be ridiculous, but girls always seem to want to pick with up and play with it. And you can get into all sorts of fun sexual innuendo with that thing...

Have a stuffed animal on your bed. It plays to the girl's emotional side, that you *might* be a softie inside (hahaha), and you can always tell her, "Teddy has been here before you and will be here long after you, so if he doesn't like you, we obviously can't be friends." I've had girls play along and start qualifying themselves to the stuffed animal - which is good, because they fall into your frame. (Then to reward her for being cute, you lean in for the kiss... ;) )

Looking forward to seeing pics of your player's pad, you pimp!

Here is the world map in wood I am referring to. https://www.etsy.com/listing/122959907/ ... h_type=all

Great tips on the Stuffed animal and shake weight.

Definitely going over the Mcguffin thread with a notepad in hand:)

I'll be shopping for new furniture soon too. I like the look of the faux leather and faux suede a lot but I have a cat and he's a dick. He's not bad to scratch on furniture but I don't wanna take the chance with a bad ass couch. Any ideas for something a little tougher than those? Or at least wouldn't show if he did decide to ignore his scratch post?
