Since this is my forum, I can basically do what I want (not have to do what someone else tells me)
If YOU guys have any ideas or suggestions, like having a section just for life building, post in this thread, and if solid will try to incorporate into the forum

Re: Suggestions?
Might I suggest a beginner level section? That would divide it up between advanced/newbie questions.
Also, an online-game section. Some people don't care anything about "sarging online" and don't want to have to sift through all the POF questions/tactics to get to posts by people who actually get out into the field.
Just my 2 cents

with that said, even on the SLA forum, I tried to make a beginners section and new guys will want "advanced" guys to respond, so they usually skip it and post in advanced section.
IF/WHEN this forum gets busy enough to warrant it, I am thinking about making it so new users can read but not post in an advanced section for like 2 weeks, but can post in newb section or learn how to search because chances are their topic has been covered 100s of times.
I also don't want to have many sections on here right now, and them have only a few posts in them, but was thinking once things get rocking, making an online section under pick up, maybe a day 2 section, and so on. IF needed
Think we are basically on the same wavelength

Re: Suggestions?
Actually, I disagree. While there are a few newbies in the advanced SLA section, the beginner section gets just as many posts and questions. Even if they *are* 75% moviephone questions...Bravo wrote:I tried to make a beginners section and new guys will want "advanced" guys to respond, so they usually skip it and post in advanced section.
And if you were to go the route of not letting them post in the advanced until a week... (if you were to go the route of the time limit) why not make it a month? That is the normal drop-out date, isn't it?
But either way, I think the time limit isn't such a good idea. That will discourage the guys who are new to the forum (but not new to the game) from giving a sh*t about this place.
If you were to limit someone from posting in the advanced... maybe have it necessary for them to post, say 3 FR's or something along those lines.
That would put some commitment behind their standing.

Re: Suggestions?
dig the 3 fr rule, only issue I could see is then someone has to mod EACH new sign up.
Looking into other options now, including making a password protected section, where we can post all of the super secret stuff we don't want getting out all over the net

Re: Suggestions?
Dont know if Im just used to it from the other forums, but is there a way to show what thread the last post was in each section?
While I'll be doing my best to check out each section on a regular basis, I liked being able to glance over the sections and see if there was a new post on a topic that interested me that I might comment on immediately. Although I could also see the point of wanting people to click on a section to see all of the threads.
Just saying what I liked visually.

Re: Suggestions?
just above the forum there are these buttons
View unanswered posts • View unread posts • View new posts • View active topics
new posts is all I ever clicked on Elite, to stay up to date on all posts
also there are changes to the little designs when new posts, just not very pronounced here. Potential and I just spoke about this
if you change the theme under control panel, the other ones are more noticeable
also if you click all forums read when you leave it helps those things function properly
this software is still new to me, and never did a programming class before so something may move slowly
BUT with the FR section being hidden unless you register, thinking about making another section that you not only have to be registered to see but also password protected, maybe just for guys that have been to training, or purples and up, etc..

Re: Suggestions?
make it so when people post links it opens a new window. That would be nice so we can check out the link without leaving the forum's page.

looking into that
AND
making it so when you are subscribed to a post, or when you get a PM
instead of just getting an email saying something is there, it emails you what the post or PM contains
the hard part is that I am doing everything on my own here, and only know what I have self learned so far making this site...

Re: Suggestions?
I think we should have an introduction forum. like we have for pick up and seduction, dating, Field reports etc etc.
