After much deliberation I've purchased the new Sony action cam. Has excellent battery life, gps, good in low light and excellent vibration dampening. Basically everything I need.

Without editing, the sony cam looks smoother and more defined. Apparently if you're a protools geek you can make the go pro look better. But I'm not. So for a $100+ savings, and the extra features. I'm going with the Sony.

At the moment the cam is back ordered. But once I get it at the end of the month I'll post something for those that are interested.
