The Age Question

Post by BamBamToddler »

So here is a frequent problem I have when talking to women. I am shitty at telling a woman's age. I am 35 and more than once I have been talking to a woman I met at a store only to find out she is 18 (once even 16). I know this shouldn't be a big deal but it always makes me feel like I need to chill. I feel like I'm a perv and want to call the cops on myself. Is there a smooth way to ask a woman her age before you start throwing game?

Bam, nice to see you join and post

Let me ask you first this- what advice would you give to a guy who asked this question?

-this is a thinking drill, to see where your head is, and to start getting you to think outside of the box

I think I would tell him to make it into a game. I might tell him to go up to the woman and say, "You're cute. It's too bad you are so young." Then see how she responds.

I could see that going sour quickly though.

Why do you see that potential interaction going bad? What about it makes you think "if I do this, it'll go sour quickly"?

I'm asking because within 5 minutes of your prior post, you already began doubting your own suggestion.

I don't think the age different is the issue here. If you're a bit older than the woman, that just means your mature and experienced enough to blow her mind! There's no real negative to it. If she looks too young, just ask her age. If she's too young, move on to the next set.

you could make it into a game...but that doesnt help you if they are underage...

how could you do things to preemptively screen girls?

Thank you, Noa. Some good insights. There is nothing wrong with asking. I'm sure I worry too much about coming off as a creepy old man.

That's a good question. If they did turn out to be underage, I would feel like a bit of a creeper. Unless I came out and asked upfront, like Noa suggested, I am not sure how I could preemptively determine if she was underage. I mean there might be some signs. If she is in nurse scrubs, she likely graduated college. If she has a Hello Kitty backpack, she probably isn't worth messing with. I could use some advice beyond that.
