Trying to be as active as I can on here.
Been busy starting own corp while maintaining my full time sales gig.
Anyways
An opportunity presented itself to interview for a staffing agency in a prime location.
First round went well and the second I thought was even better - had an hour convo with CEO
Today I find out I didn't get it because I was on my phone and cursed. Let me explain, while waiting for the next person to speak to I was checked and used my phone. As far as cursing goes, I replicated what they said. Not dropping f bombs left and right.
A part of me feels like they set me up to curse to see I would let my guard down and part feels their reasons are crap.

Re: Cursing/using phone on an interview
If you are in a room by yourself waiting for someone, checking your phone doesn't seem like a big deal to me, however they may have problems with their employees on their phones all day so just jumped to conclusions. I wouldn't recommend taking a call, even while waiting unless it is very important.
As far as cursing goes, even if they are doing it I would recommend keeping it as professional as possible and not cursing. I don't know if I would be excited to work for an employer in an office setting if he/she is cursing in their first interaction with me. I don't generally associate cursing with intelligence or professionalism, which are two things I look for in a boss.
Now you know, if interviewing for a job in this industry you need to leave your phone at home.

Jungel,
Great advice! Am definitely going to implement it next time - unless my corp takes off in the next few months then it fuck off to those guys!
Are you in sales, too?

Best foot forward
In meetings or even just me meeting up with my new landlord the other day
I was early, I said YES SIR a few times, phone was ignored, I conveyed that I was the best person they would ever meet and THEY would be lucky for me to rent from THEM!
and of course, got the cool condo in downtown flag that had 30 people on the list waiting for it.

Thanks bravo!
This is a great learning experience IMO
I even applied for a other sales gigs - gotta get back on that horse.
Got to convey that both parties would benefit from each other - in the meantime going to focus on funding deals for my llc & grow the business

Hey Blaze
I personally think almost everyone is in sales. If you are not selling a physical product to someone, you are selling yourself to your boss, or selling an idea. Getting people to part with resources in one way or another. I suppose it would be more accurate to call it persuasion.
I do not do traditional sales however. I am a CPA.
Best of luck with your corp.
