My Life

Post by groverb2003 »

So I recently got into a discussion with Brock about the anger that presented itself in my first field report. I had been attempting to cover it up with some justification of expecting things from people who were paid to provide them, but I revealed to Brock about how life for me has been going and the frusteration of being 30 and stuck in an entry level position making $13 an hour.... Or something like that, the actual text messages are as follows:

I dont really care about this place. Its a job until i find another place to work. Im the most overqualified person here. I can program in 10 different languages, ive got 6 years experience rebuilding tactical networks and computers in the army and another 14 outside of the army. I just cant stand everyone's snotty attitude here and their constant need for attention and to be power hungry. They give me $13 an hour to do a job worth $60k a year and expect me to give up breaks for the sake of "getting work done". Thats where most of my anger and stuff comes from. When i first moved here i was making 75k a year and I was having fun. Now i make 20 and i hate everything lol

I have very little free time as the majority of time is spent trying to make more money for bills and writing on books that never particularly sell well. I know it comes off as whining, but I think it should be interpreted more so as a plea. If anyone has any advice, please for the love of God share it with me. I've tried everything and all I get out of it is wasted cash and time.

Thanks guys!

Something Bravo just put up on another thread:

http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-harsh-tru ... er-person/

I own a business, but I used to make $15 an hour delivering pizza. My adopted sister is a computer engineer and makes way more just a year out of college. She also works at a sushi place on the weekend and averages $25 an hour with tips.

My point is, find a way. Keep applying for jobs. Keep looking. In the mean time, be grateful. Everyday is a choice. The day will be the same and your pay will be the same whether you have a shitty attitude or a positive one, so why not have a positive one? Take pride in your hard work. Are they underpaying and undervaluing you? Sure. But that doesn't mean you should hold yourself to a lower standard. Rise above and be awesome, rather than sink just because they aren't on your level.

And your attitude will effect eveything you do and everyone around you will feel it.

Well I've had the big idea for awhile of starting up a tech company, but I seem to have a lot of issues getting my name out there. I advertise on Craigslist and I get spam more often than not. If I could get clients weekly on that thing, I'd be more than awesome!
