Took the last few days off of the gym to finish up papers. And I fucking nailed them. Whew!

Anyway, first day of no papers to write today, so I went to the gym and swam a mile. I've been regaining my lost ground pretty quickly. Also, I've gained a pound or two. It's the trickle before the storm.

Still waiting to hear back from the personal trainers. If I don't hear from them by Monday, I'll call them up or show up in person to get things rolling.

I skipped too many days at the gym . Next week is going to be worse, since I'll be on the road. I still have to iron out my schedule with the personal trainer.

I got back in the pool again today, and swam 2000 yards. I also found out I've put on another pound. Feeling pretty damn good right now. Still, this many days off is unacceptable. I'll be back in the gym again tomorrow.

1300 yards today. Took it easy to save energy for the show I played tonight. I'm tipping the scales at a little over 127 now, which is up three pounds from when I started.

Oh, not good, to be honest. No more gym, and very little time. It should change pretty soon (after this audition in a week and a half), but I'll have to figure out a way to bulk up without a gym.

On the plus side, I've got a new motivation to get good at pull-ups. I live across the street from a high-rise apartment, and a friend of mine showed me how to get up onto the roof. But I've gotta pull myself up out of a hatch to make it up there.

I'm thinking about buying a few weights to have around the apartment. What would you recommend?

I forgot to mention the stuff I fixed... I got my blood work done and found out I'm deficient in vit D, so I've started supplementing that every morning. I also upped my calorie intake, just eating more food at each meal, and more often. Between all that, it seems to have fixed the crashy, low-energy days that I had been having. My weight has gone up slightly, but not nearly as much as I'd been aiming for.

You can do some bodyweight stuff. i.e push ups, pull ups, squats, burpees, Dips etc.

having some weights at home wouldn't hurt, but a couple of things to take into consideration

- It will just be waste of money unless you are going to use regulary.
- Also to be as effective as std bodyweight stuff you will need more than just a few weights, = expensive
- If you havent got time for gym now, are you really going to find time at home?

Another thing you could try is one of those workout programs, Ive seen a few guys here recommend insanity program/workout. and a few years ago p90x was pretty big, I tried that myself and it was tough. though I'm not really up-to-date on these types of programs as I tend to do my own stuff.

But if you want results, like with anything in life, you have to be commited and put in the hard work. So if you really want to make progress you need to make time.

Also it sounds like you are doing the right thing with your diet, to gain weight = consume more calories than you burn, and seems liek you are doing that.

Since I'm on the forum not as often as I like due to my schedule, it's hella dumb hard to respond to these kinds of posts. But, as a certified personal trainer through: (AFAA, WITS & ACE) I do need a wee bit of more information about you to give you solid advice. From reading your post, it looks like you need a solid program to follow, i.e. body building kind of a routine. Furthermore, you might need to increase the food intake to build bulk. Either through dirty bulking or clean bulking. The easiest way to gain mass (muscle) while lifting is through dirty bulking. I.E eating anything and everything you see in sight. If you want to obtain mass quickly via a workout routine, Follow The Rock's Hercules workout program's and increase the food in take of your diet. Ideally, your protein.

Thanks, Fro. Spring semester is long since done, so I've abandoned this thread. But I've started making gains at home with push ups and pull ups. I also changed my diet to include a lot more dairy, eggs, and some meat every now and then. I've been consciously eating more meals, and going until I'm stuffed, if I can.

I've gone from barely being able to do a pull up, to getting up to seven in a row, which I'm pretty happy about. I'm also at 26 (low) push ups in a row. Next time will be 27, then 28, and so on. I've got a workout log that I taped up to the inside of my bedroom door, which keeps me motivated more than anything else.

I'm not going at it 100%, I know, but I'm alright with that. I'm a working violinist, and sometimes I've gotta take it easy on the workout stuff so as not to invite injuries or wipe myself out before a performance or when I really need to practice a ton. I'm making steady and noticeable progress, and I'm really happy with that. My biceps and pecs are coming in, which I'm really proud of. I've never really grown any muscle like this before. Also, all these push ups improved my posture without me even noticing. It was my sister-in-law that mentioned it; she said I looked taller, and my brother agreed. Other people have mentioned that I look bigger.

So yeah, that's where I'm at. I'd be curious to see how much I weigh, but I don't have access to a scale. I know I must have gained a few pounds in muscle mass.
