My values are as follows:

1.Honoring my principals and sticking to my guns..

When I say honor my code I mean honor my beliefs and to defend what I stand for. Many times your beliefs and principles will be challenged. I promise myself to always no matter what the circumstances are to always hold my ground and stand by my principals (no bullshit, respect for one another, eliminating negative people/energy from my life regardless of who they are, and last but not least to survive). Which brings me to my next value.

2.Surviving..

When I say sieving I don't mean surviving death but handling extremely tough situations with a courageous heart and a "no fail" mindset.. Many times I have been put in situations where I could have been broken into pieces and stopped trying. I didn't because I know 2 things..

1. I will not die from the event/problem 9 out of 10 times.

2. The worst that could happen is either happening at the moment or could not be worse.

^that is my mind when problems such as unemployment, lack of home, being stranded, and other small problems such as lateness to work, missing bills, ect.

This keeps me calm but I do retain my sense of urgency around everything.

And last but not least.

3.Determination

Many times in the past my determination has been put to the test (getting a new job and raising funds for PX was a big one and considered a pinnacle point). My determination is what has gained me my reputation at my jobs, the respect I currently have for myself and will soon be responsible for my new apartment. My determination to get things done/acquire needs goes hand in hand with my survival.. My mind set is pretty much summed up with 4 words....

"By any means necessary"

I apply all of these values to all aspects of my life.. Living necessities, women, and health of my life..

Afternoon lads... Thanks to Ice and DJ again for doing this : )

First Draft -

Outcome Independence

Explanation:

I aim to set goals and have something to work towards, but I don’t see success as achieving my goals exactly how I envisioned them. I see success as enjoying the process and being content that I am learning from my experiences. So whether I fall short of or exceed these goals doesn’t matter because I have succeeded in improving along the way.

Freedom

Explanation:

Not the fake freedom we are told we have today, one of my core beliefs is that there are too many rules in our society. Both rules of law enforced by the government, and social rules enforced by our peers. I understand that we need this system to live the way we do today, but I often get the feeling that I am locked away like a prisoner but told I am free. Hope that makes sense to everyone??

Getting by with what I have right now

Explanation:

Facing up to the challenges you face every day with a positive attitude and not worrying about what you don’t have now but using what is in front of you to overcome them.

Example: my car is off the road and I have to catch a train to work, instead of my usual response of hating the world and being negative about it, this time I have embraced it, I get 1 hour exercise everyday now walking between train stations and work/home, I get to try and talk to girls I see in train stations, I am even finding a quiet part of the station in the morning and mediating during the 20 mins I have to wait for the train, and I am saving money. After 6 weeks I feel so much less stress and even considering if I keep doing this once I get my car working again.

Lending a hand when needed

Explanation:

I always help someone when they are in trouble. You see so many people walk past someone that is need of help these days, I don’t mean a beggar who is asking for change to buy drugs, I mean that old person walk up stairs with their shopping, or someone whose car has broken down on the main road and needs help to push it to the side.

Knowledge

Explanation:

I value knowledge, both the knowledge learnt from others during schooling/Uni, knowledge learnt by you through trial and error, and knowledge you learn by observing other people. I am constantly learning, the moment I stop I will be dead.

Good job working on your values, it tells a lot about you.

Very good value here. Really like how your definition doesn't focus on the end result, but more on the journey. And THAT'S where you'll achieve the most growth.

You keep using the word "success" here (or some variation). You might want to consider that a value to, since it resonates very well with you :)

Freedom

Freedom happens when you are able to live your life the way that YOU want to (within the bounds of societal norms and government rules, of course). Having this value is good, it helps you to focus on creating a life that allows you to live it by YOUR rules

Getting by with what I have right now

Like Ice said for GP's values, is there a single word that best describes this? Perhaps Positivity?

Reframing how you see things is a very important skill. Seeing the positive in everything helps keep you on track and motivated to accomplish your goals.

Next week, we'll have a very special Coaching Thread on Reframing, so great that you brought it up!

Lending a hand when needed

HELPFULNESS is a good single word to describe this value.

Knowledge

Explanation:

I value knowledge, both the knowledge learnt from others during schooling/Uni, knowledge learnt by you through trial and error, and knowledge you learn by observing other people. I am constantly learning, the moment I stop I will be dead.
Awesome!

It's great that you realise that you are constantly learning, and that it never ends once you graduate from university. Keeping an open mind is a very important skill, as you never know when the next big idea will come to you and help you achieve a breakthrough.

Hey GP - I can tell you spent some time on this. Good start, and let's take it even further

I got so many things from #1... even more values

The big point I drew from #1 was you wanted to stay true to yourself and what you stood for.
What is the word that best defines this? Is it authenticity, bravery, courage, assertiveness, conviction, commitment, daring, decisiveness, mastery, maturity, strength, valor, or something else?

Take a look at http://www.stevepavlina.com/articles/list-of-values.htm and see which words stand out and resonate with your meaning of #1.

With # 2, I get what you're saying... just wondering if this is 'the' word you wish to associate with your value? Or, is it resilience, courage, self-reliance, strength, valor, peseverence, drive, devotion, or?

I like #3, it seems to fit you

More thoughts

With #1, I saw some additional values there, I saw courage, respect, positivity, and synergy. If these are your values, you'll want to identify them, and create your definitions for them.

Also - invite you to consider

If these are your values that are closest to you - are there any other values that you wish to adopt and stretch yourself to embodying these values?

For instance, I valued strength/courage and resiliency.... and I stretched my comfort zone by adopting harmony as my value

So while I value Strength, I also value harmony and compassion at the same time - a balance, ying/yang

Just some thoughts - feel free to solidy your values, consider if any other values you wish to stretch yourself on, and post back here for thoughts and to lock down

You've spent a lot of time on this monte - great start

I am wondering if outcome independence is the best word, and I am going to invite you to dig deeper

What is really the value that is surfacing when you describe this? What is the REAL meaning for you?

Is it, learning, achievement, accomplishment, consciousness, patience, calmness, competence, discipline, encouragement, gratitude, insightfulness, hopefulness, kindness, knowledge, vision, or something else?

Is it the word for you?

If so, keep it, though I want you to check out other words and see if is truly the best value word for you.

I have an idea of where you are getting at with 'freedom'. What is YOUR definition of freedom? How would you define it?

Bring that out and be clear!

What word would you associate with 'Getting by with what I have right now'

Take a look at http://www.stevepavlina.com/articles/list-of-values.htm for ideas - choose one :)

Ie is, acceptance, appreciation, contentment, graciousness, humility, ingenuity, or another word perhaps?

What word would you associate with your definition of 'lending a hand'?

Is it, care, compassion, harmony, empathy, fairness, giving, gregariousness, heart, helpfulness, heroism, hopefulness, impact, influence, peace, etc?

So invite you to expand on your definition of knowledge - what is it about knowledge that you value?

Is it the virtue of learning, the competence aspect, the journey?

Very good start - feel free to update and post back on here so have it locked in prior to next week :)

Also, just like what I said to GP - invite you to consider adding values that are a stretch for you, values that you want to work. :)
