Re: question on jeans
This is ideal. If it doesn't, chances are your jeans are just a touch too long. Besides, a huge fashion trend coming through is a chino or Jean rolled up just a little bit so that the ankle is exposed even while standing, paired with a boat or loafer type shoe and no socks. Jeans, if fitting properly should sit just above the bottom of the heel of your shoe. Also, be sure you are wearing black socks lol.

Re: question on jeans
general rule on jean length...
when wearing your going out shoes (more specifically, the tallest shoes you normally wear when going out) you want the jeans to almost touch the ground behind your heel.

My dress pants (black for work and what not) shoes ankle with black socks that is Ideal for dress jeans.
For jeans when going to the club I like my shoes to be covered by my jeans. THat is my personal preference, I always get the bootcuts just for that reason.

If you are going to show some ankle, make sure your socks go with your shoes and jeans. Girls notice that stuff...
White socks with dress shoes is a huge no no!
