Critique me!

Post by NOMEX »

Looked like the style area needed some posts so have at it!

Was told by style and his girlfriend to rock the "boy band" look. This is what I've got.

First V neck I've ever bought so give me your take on how it looks on me!

More outfits to come

2 tips, then going to let guys who are better at fashion than I chime in

1. Don't wear that necklace outside a shirt, actually don't dig it at all. But if you do wear one, wear under the shirt, let it just barely poke out, vneck and button ups will show it off more.

2. Need to work on your smile, need to use more than just the mouth, use the whole face especially the eyes. Otherwise looks very fake a d forced.
Respectfully,
Bravo

Like Bravo already said, the first thing that popped out to me was your smile. If you read my style article, I talked about developing an avatar and using other people and characters as examples. If you have a person or character that you want to be/look more like, then get some pictures of them smiling and intimate them in the mirror some time...

Next your hair... If your going to spike it up like that, I would recommend spiking up the front as well. I think you would look much better without your bangs coming down over your forehead like they are in the pics.

I like the accessories in general. The watch, bracelets, belt, and ring look good. The only thing I would say is that you may not want to wear black bracelets when there is no more black in your outfit. Especially if you are doing white shoes and a white belt. When I do white shoes and a white belt (which I do a lot) I do no black at all, not a black watch, no black accessories, just white and silver. I'm not big on the chain though, especially since there isn't anything on it.

If you are going with those style shoes, I would recommend getting some Converse All Stars. I have a pair that I've had for over a year, and I keep them very clean. People always comment on my Chucks and that they are so clean because most people get theirs beat up to all hell. Women pay attention to shoes, so it's important to take care of yours and show your style through your shoes. Also, Chucks are one of the few times I care about brand, people will notice that you are wearing Converse All Stars as opposed to a similar shoes of another brand. Also, did someone steal your shoe laces?

I like the second shirt better than the first. I think it fits you better and it's a better color on you. You may also want to start thinking about getting shirts that aren't plain. Your style is a way to visually communicate aspects of your personality and DHV yourself. It's so easy to get a shirt that says something about you.

And I don't have much to say about the pants. They are both the right length and they look like they fit you well. I like the charcoal ones better than the blue ones.

So overall, not a bad start. Your cloths fit pretty well, and you've got some accessories going for you, so your on your way! But again, if you haven't read my style article, then check it out and comment on it! Hopefully it will give you some things to think about with developing your personal style.

Great advice, thanks guys.

As for the shoes, went out looking for a cheap pair of white shoes & wallah! They actually are converse, but you can't put laces in them. Have a pair of converse all-stars in black and white

I actually sent a picture of the white shoes to HBfashionmajor back at school and she said "I really like them, good call."

Knew I shouldn't have bought that necklace..

Get a charm for the necklace that relates to a DHV story for you and it will be cool.

Last picture is my favorite, minus the necklace and maybe the watch. I'm not a big watch guy.

Personally, I think the first outfit is a bit plan.

Not a big fan of the blue pants. I'm curious, where did you get those.

I think you need a little more style and pop. Use the last picture as a good base of what looks good and build from there.

Do you mean regular T-shirts or dress shirts??

That first outfit I tried to mirror from a picture I found online.. most of that came from Macy's.

Your style in general should be used as a way to visually communicate aspects of your personality and DHV yourself. Tee-shirts are the easiest way to visually communicate your interests and parts of your personality. For example, I have a couple of playful video game shirts. One is bright green, has a one up mushroom on it, and says, "Get a life." The other is bright red, with a red mushroom on it and says, "Grow up." Think of your interests and buy shirts accordingly. Do you like sports? Buy a cool shirt of your favorite team (but never wear a jersey outside of playing that sport). You like country music? Buy a western style shirt. Like old school hip hop? Buy a Run DMC shirt. EXE...
