Also saw a comparison on the 590 and 870, brought up some points that make me lean towards 590 rather than 870 - but anything I'm not considering?

870
Tried and true and easy to get replacement parts and accessories for.
I would go with a tactical model at least. I have the police magnum which is the best IMO

What do you think about the 870 ejector? The guy on youtube said if that breaks, you would have to send to remington to fix
Whereas if 590, the ejector you can replace by yourself
I've never owned a shotgun so not much experience with them - not sure how likely ejector is to fail?

I've never heard about that as an issue EVER
also not sure why any gun smith couldnt fix....
EVERY PD that I know of used the 870- so if so bad not sure why they would...also means parts are easier to get
which is a big part of why I am a Glock and AR-15 fan (instead of a rare Sig or HK handgun- 556 variant fan)

Went to the gun store today and held a mossberg and remington
the difference was distinct
I picked up the remington and it fit real well, hugged my shoulder, cycled nicely
I picked up the mossberg and the pump was wobbly and although a close fit, just felt not quite there
The remington was solid and I knew I wanted one. I didn't know the price was that low - last I saw one was above $800 so always thought remington was out of my league. Turns out I can get the 870 express for < 400.
They didn't have the tactical 870 in stock so I'm going to wait till I'm back home b/c there's a bigger gun shop with more options for 870.
Thanks for the solid recommendation Bravo.

also you can put on different stocks and foregrips
like mine currently has the magpul stuff on it, the stock I can adjust with spacers and make longer or shorter
I can also add cheek pieces
so dont worry TOO much about how it fits now- TONS of options to modify= one of the reasons I said to get it
And I'm thinking that because of the options available for 870, might be able to take it to three gun competition (so I switch to longer barrel, and get a 4 or 5 round extension).
How important is it that I find an 870 that has the receiver milled from solid steel?
Also looks like these three are my options close to me. I'm leaning to the tactical with ghost ring, but the spec ops looks kinda cool too - don't think I need that fancy though.
None of them list that the receiver is milled from solid steel - but does synthetic indicate that the receiver is not milled from solid steel?

the more expensive models have better machine work= fit and finish
the solid steel part- just going from memory- but thought that was really only around the trigger guard, and matters for PDs because of how they lock them up
the polymer ones could be broken out- was their fear
think a solid 870 is fine, but the wingmaster- and Police are best- if you can swing it

Did some research on the wingmasters - looks damn smooth
Couldn't swing it though, went a little above the $350 and decided to get the tactical 870 with ghost rings in the end
