Found this article while I was doing my daily rundown of the NY Times. Saw this article and its really helpful on dressing appropriately to the venue your going to for the night. This also states how some venues have a particular style they are looking for in their patrons. Extremely interesting IMO, since I want to master the social arts in NYC.

AF, thanks for this. Very interesting, although my personality doesn't fit any of the places mentioned!

One thing I feel is worth mentioning is that all things being equal, it's better to be overdressed than underdressed. It's easier to take an outfit down a notch or two than raise it up the same amount.

great article. interesting to read. good job doing research beforehand as well. it's always good when you're traveling to a city you're not used to (and especially if you live in a big city) to do some research like this so you don't get embarrassed at the door and turned down for improper attire.
