Here's my 2016 goal list.
Travel - I am going to make the most of my time off and continue to travel.
I currently have two trips planned in early 2016, I'm heading out to Sri Lanka on the 14th for some trekking.

I am also going to spend a week Free Diving with Blue Whales. This is has meant I've had to spend most of my free time at work training, either in the gym or breath hold training and meditation in my bed. Eight holds a day, 1:00 - 2:45 at 15 second increments, the aim is to increase the comfort zone of my breath hold.

I also have another jungle trip to South America planned out for late March, two weeks wild camping while navigating a river system in dug out canoes.

Health & Fitness - I will continue to improve my diet and fitness. (14% body fat)

I've decided to step away from German Volume Training for a little while, I feel like I may have plateaued. I've gone back to lifting heavy and keeping the reps low. The gym is still a massive part of my working routine. I would like to figure out a way to plan in some gym time while I'm not working or involved in a physically demanding trip.

I will plant a tree in the rear garden of my property before the end of 2015. This still needs completing... I just need to get it done the next time I get back to my hometown, which hasn't happened in a long while, and isn't likely to happen before summer.

I will continue to save money, with the aim of paying off my mortgage.

I'm going to climb another mountain before the end of 2016.

I will have completed my AFF before the end of 2016 (Tandem done).

I will dive with two species of shark in 2016 & I'll attain my PADI Rescue Diver in 2016. Potentially I would also like to complete my AIDA 3 Star certification.

I will attend a Vipassana meditation course before the end of 2016.

I'll travel to Vegas to play in the WSOP in the next two years (Potentially 2016 or 2017).

In the next two years I will achieve incorporated status with the Engineering Council. (Potentially 2016 or 2017).

I will have spent two months working abroad for a charity before the end of 2017 (Potentially 2016 or 2017).

I will learn how to ride a motorcycle in the next two years (Potentially 2016 or 2017).

This is awesome! I really liked how everything is actionable and covers many aspects of life: career, health, travel, etc.

The only change I would recommend is to change your goals from the future tense to the present or past tense. This trains your mind to picture your goals happening NOW or already accomplished, instead of keeping it vaguely out there in the future. For example, instead of

Write this: "I continue to improve my diet & fitness." Or better yet: "I am in EXCELLENT health, eat right, and have a solid training programme, at 14% bodyfat percentage."
I will plant a tree in the rear garden of my property before the end of 2015.
Write this: "I planted a tree in the rear garden of my property before the end of 2016."
I will continue to save money, with the aim of paying off my mortgage.
Write this: "I am saving money. My mortgage is already paid off."

Change the rest, and watch things click for you this year!

Just noticed: any goals regarding girls? Social goals? Romance goals? Sexual goals? (e.g., "I had an amazing threesome with two A-list models, have Abigail Mac calling me for sexual favours, and now I am dating Daisy Ridley")

Thanks for the tips DJ!

Posting the specific goals I've selected for completion from my Mission Statement thread.

I'm in the process of updating for 2016, will look at incorporating your feedback.

Things are coming together nicely... although it means my year is all but planned out and lacking any real spontaneity, I guess that's the price paid for getting shit done.

Climbed a mountain in Sri Lanka, wasn't the biggest at 2,243m, none of it was technical, but that shit counts. Considering something a little more challenging for 2017/2018.

AFF is booked for August, completing that then meeting a friend in Spain so we can make our 50th jump together. Still shit scared of this, but knowing that my friend is counting on me will push me through.

Close to booking a liveaboard dive trip in the Red Sea and my PADI Rescue Diver for the back end of the year, getting in the water with two species of sharks is not guaranteed but the chance is there, and I'm ride with it.

Also, with the diving, next year is looking like I may possibly get the opportunity to get in the water with Great Whites, and if it doesn't happen next year... more than likely it will happen in 2018. I'm a couple of days away from signing on to six big dive trips next year, and after a little math... over fifteen species of shark, including Great Hammers, Tiger, Bull Mako, Blue and the Great Whites. I've also grudgingly decided it's time to purchase my own diving equipment.

Vipassana meditation course dates set and venue selected, it'll be right after my liveaboard dive trip, and I'll be spending my 31st birthday sat in complete silence.

In the process of booking my motorcycle CBT and theory test, which is the first step to attaining my unrestricted license. Have made arrangements with a couple of friends to complete a road trip through North America and into South America over 2018, should amazing experience.

And I've managed to complete my goal of exploring other career options that are more aligned with things that I am passionate about. I'll be posting about this separately in the near future.

Finally, I'll be planting that fucking tree in the back garden of my place when I return to the UK for a week next month.

Here goes...

I currently have two trips planned in early 2016, I'm heading out to Sri Lanka on the 14th for some trekking.
Trip to Sri Lanka went well, travel goal is on going... I've already done a lot of traveling this year.

Sri Lanka, Guyana, Canada, USA and have a road trip through Spain/Portugal/France coming up at the end of this trip.

Done, this trip was totally amazing, really looking forward to getting back in the water in 2017, if not before.
Moiser wrote:I also have another jungle trip to South America planned out for late March, two weeks wild camping while navigating a river system in dug out canoes.
Done.
Moiser wrote:Health & Fitness - I will continue to improve my diet and fitness. (14% body fat)
Still on going, but going well. Hitting the gym regularly at work, and keeping active when I am off work. Would attain or maintain gains if I started to work out while I was off work.

I haven't done it, it's annoying. I will have an opportunity at the end of this trip at work. I am going to plant the tree, then piss on it.
Moiser wrote:I will continue to save money, with the aim of paying off my mortgage.
Done! Feels awesome.
Moiser wrote:I'm going to climb another mountain before the end of 2016.
Done, in Sri Lanka.
Moiser wrote:I will have completed my AFF before the end of 2016 (Tandem done).
Course is booked, completing late August.

Looking to complete PADI Rescue Diver in later October, have two weeks blocked so should be able to have a crack at my AIDA 3 Star certification too... just have to select a the right location to get all three of these things together.
Moiser wrote:I will attend a Vipassana meditation course before the end of 2016.
Found the course I want to attend, can't apply till August... I must get my application in early or I'll miss out, which wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would be nice to cross this one off.
Moiser wrote:I will learn how to ride a motorcycle in the next two years (Potentially 2016 or 2017).
Well...

I've purchased two motorcycles, A Zontes Panther (Cheap 125CC) and a KTM Adventure 990.
I've completed my CBT and Theory (meaning I can ride the 125CC bike on the road).
Planning to get some experience on the 125CC when I'm in the UK to complete my AFF.

No progress on these, the way 2017 is looking I may have to push these back.

Really good progress mate! Smashing those goals.

One question though, when you've planted that tree.... why do you want to piss on it? hahaha

Well I've had this on my list for ages and it just keeps annoyingly slipping through. I realise this actually has nothing to do with the tree... so maybe after I plant it I should piss on my leg.

Why don't you plant two trees and piss on one and see if it makes a difference. That's called science.

Posting final update now as the year is practically done for me (back at work till mid December).

But it's good news, I've completed almost everything I set out to accomplish.

Here's my 2016 goal list.
Travel - I am going to make the most of my time off and continue to travel.
I currently have two trips planned in early 2016, I'm heading out to Sri Lanka on the 14th for some trekking.
Done! I've done a lot of traveling this year. Sri Lanka, Guyana, Canada, USA, Spain, Portugal & Prague.
Health & Fitness - I will continue to improve my diet and fitness. (14% body fat)
Done, but always tweaking and making progress, not at 14% yet... still work to be done.
Done.

I will continue to save money, with the aim of paying off my mortgage.
Done, mortage gone! Feels awesome.
I'm going to climb another mountain before the end of 2016.
Done, in Sri Lanka.
I will have completed my AFF before the end of 2016 (Tandem done).
Done, got my BPA A licence.

I will dive with two species of shark in 2016 & I'll attain my PADI Rescue Diver in 2016. Potentially I would also like to complete my AIDA 3 Star certification.

PADI Rescue Diver done. Didn't get to dive with sharks, but have several big shark dive trips booked for next year, so happy enough.
I will attend a Vipassana meditation course before the end of 2016.
I did attend the course, but I didn't see the 10 days out. Bad timing, have some heavy personal shit going on, and decided I wasn't ready to deal with that during the 10 day course. Planning to attend another course late next year, powerful stuff!
I will learn how to ride a motorcycle in the next two years (Potentially 2016 or 2017).
I've purchased two motorcycles, A Zontes Panther (Cheap 125CC) and a KTM Adventure 990.
I've completed my CBT and Theory (meaning I can ride the 125CC bike on the road).

Planning to complete my actual license before the year is out.
