Here are some pointers for keeping up with the music scene.
Find a blog/news site about music you enjoy. Pitchfork.com is popular, yet it leans somewhat indie. There are several genre specific blogs out there of note.
Check out the charts on billboard.com to see who is getting a lot of play.
Grooveshark.com is good for finding tracks you've heard and listening for free.
-Listen to pandora while you are working
-Some relatively new acts to look up: Neon Trees, the XX, Robyn
-Rolling Stone is a good resource, here's their best of 2010
