Be accountable and be a man (my personal growth record)

Post by sweetcheeks »

For the last two years I've been a pretty big gym rat(I love lifting). I was spending 1-2 hours a day 5-6 days a week at the gym. I would alternate between body building, power lifting, and any other lifting program I could find. I feel like I was getting pretty near the strongest I've ever been, but... I still had a pretty mean gut/love handles, butt chin (when I get too chubby it starts to show up and goes away when I thin out), and my weight was fluctuating between 208-215 depending on the week.

I have a buddy who was the most fit guy I know. He was shredded and pretty stalky. He decided to try out for the SEALS and spent the last 6 months doing the workouts that his recruiters gave him to get ready and he thinned out and got way more cut that I thought physically possible.

So after trying the same thing over and over again for 2 years I finally decided to try something new. I downloaded the MARSOC fitness app and went 100% on it. No picking and choicing workouts, just going nuts out and finishing them....

They've been kicking my ass for the past 4 weeks, but I've seen incredible improvements in both how I feel and how I look. I started tracking my weight, diet, measurements and a lot of other health stuff on a spread sheet. I don't feel like my diet has changed incredibly, I've been doing a half assed avoid white carbs and not drinking soda, and not drinking as much booze.

I feel just from tracking my body, and knowing that I am going to have to answer for my choices tomorrow morning when I measure myself that I subconsciously eat better and follow my diet. Now a month and some change later my weight fluctuates between 196-200, and (from 18 days ago) my waistline is 1.5 inches thinner and my gut is two inches smaller.

Now on my spread sheet I've added things I want to do daily to make life changes.

I've added to my sheet
Sets opened
Hours of tv watched
professional reading
practicing the guitar for 15 min
active activity
did I make a todo list

I highly recommend making a daily diligence chart to keep you accountable.

In summary:
I got on a legit training program, I spend about half as much time in the gym now. My training sessions are full of running, swimming, and body weight exercises that rock my world. I feel 10x more fucking sexy now. holding myself accountable in one area has bled over to multiple facets of my life and I'm becoming a much better man for it.

Thanks for sharing this!

Makes me think that I should look into changing up my gym routine!

I found the same thing, with keeping logs. I've got mine taped to the inside of my bedroom door. I left off working out for the past few weeks, because I worry about overdoing it when I'm practicing/playing violin for 4+ hours a day. But I found that logs and physical journals keep me way more motivated and accountable than anything else. Having an internet journal never had the same effect.

So i started to track my game side of things. In the last week I've approached/opened/ran a routine on 16 different sets. In the last 6 months I've probably opened 3 sets.

Keeping track is soooo important to actually progressing. Its hard not to improve or change when you have to log your progress everyday.

I can't recommend enough to your guys

Just hit 192 on the scale. That is 18 lbs I've lost since I began in september, dropped my pant size from a 36 to a 34.

Hit my 20th approach yesterday, and had my first d1 & d2 from a girl I met in the real world and not online.

so this has kind of becoming my accountability thread.

First D2 from real-life game... ever? Or since September? Either way, congrats! Keep it up!

First d2 from real life game since breaking up with my ex in April. Since then tho I've gotten a few more numbers from my day game and one more d2 set up for later this week with a babe from the gym.
