If you had to sit and watch the movie of your life, would you be proud?
Is your life spectacular? Is it everything you can possibly make it?
Is it something you'd proudly show your family, your friends, a random audience?
If you had to watch this movie an infinite number of times, would you be ok with that?
Is everything you wanted to do contained in this movie, or did you just check off a few easy goals?
Are you heroic, do you shy away from battles, from challenges, from struggle, or do you fight valiantly until you slay whatever dragon awaits you that day?
Do you get up the next day and posture some minor victory, or do you find an even bigger dragon to slay?
"The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death."
- Thomas Paine
In terms of pick up are you hitting on the chicks that scare the shit out of you, or are you playing it safe?
Are you saying the things YOU want to say or are you saying whatever will 'get' the girl?
Are you have wild, carefree, debauched sex, or is it 2 pumps a squirt and a snore in the dark?
If you were watching your pickups in a movie, and you had to watch them an infinite number of times, would they be awesome, funny, wild and free? Would they be everything you had, every piece of creativity you could muster, great works of art?
Or would they be lame, weak, half assed and infrequent?
Are you working a job that is soul destroying because it pays the bills?
Is every day a work of art, a series of challenges, goals, fears, smashing down comfort zones, heroism, inspiration for all the other tired drones, or are you a tired drone doing the same old shit while the man sits in his corporate office laughing at you slavishly updating your pathetic little life on Facebook?
Imagine watching you work your job in a movie of your life.....do you listen to your fucking soul howling in boredam or do you find the courage to break out and actually do something you're proud of, like a fucking hero?
Imagine sitting watching that movie of your life an infinite number of times, are you proud?

Can't believe no one has posted yet on this
Absolutely love that you wrote this.
Really puts things into perspective whether we are living a life worthy of a movie we'd want to see
Awesome post man.

Re: The Movie Of Your Life
Got a Sony action cam not long ago. Takes sick footage that looks professional. So I've been filming things I do regularly, flying (my job) working out, biking, sex with my FWB, longboarding, shooting, etc.
Really crazy what you can learn about yourself by watching the footage later. If we film sex we'll usually watch it and then delete it. It's a fun bonding experience to watch with your partner. You can talk about what you really liked, what worked and what didn't. And it's really hot. If you look down, she's probably touching herself as she watches... usually results in another round.
I used to hate watching myself because I was embarrassed. Still get the feeling sometimes. But pushing through and making changes has made a huge difference.

Now you have the motivation you need to step up in every area of your life
This is a tough thing to look at honestly, because like sweet cheeks said, it can make your life feel weak and insignificant, even if you have achieved a certain level of success, only you know if that is what you're truly capable of, or if societies view of success feels like building castles in the sky, hollow mediocrity to you
looking at this myself I realised that i've never truly tried my best at anything. I've always been a fairly smart kid, quick witted, good at sports etc. I obviously had to try a little but if I watched this movie now I was always just doing enough, never more
I actually feel that way about pick up too. I never fully went balls out 100%. I have a great gf and a lot of options, from outside it would look like success, but only YOU know, right?
And I never gave it EVERYTHING
Partly because I was afraid of my best not being as good as I thought it was, by just doing enough and kinda knowing I could be better was enough.
If I was watching the movie of my life, i'd wanna see me be all I could be. Trying my absolute best at everything. Spectacular failures would be just as honourable and fun to watch as the inevitable successes
I'm starting to apply that in my life now. Doing college work, I try not to look for others advice. I do things my own way, make every piece as good as I can, then see how it stacks up. I have to say, getting it wrong when you've tried your best almost feels good. You've found an area you need to be better in, and there's a kind of honour in that, inside
So really get your head inside this thing, it's very powerful if you're willing to feel a little uncomfortable at living your life with your foot a little on the brake
In the words of Goethe:
'Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back-- Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.'
