Hey Moiser. I love this idea. It holds you accountable and shows us what you want in life on a level deeper than just pickup. Beautiful! I want to do something similar to this on this forum, when the time is right.

Going to change things up a bit...

I lost my little brother back in August 2016, fucking awful. There's no doubt it's changed me, and my priorities. I've decided to put the item specific goal list on hold for an indefinite period of time.

My continuous life goals are almost identical to the last update.

I will live a life worthy of a biography.
I will make it a priority to travel to isolated places that few people have been.
I will have a positive impact on the people in my life.
I will continually improve myself.
I will make my physical, mental and spiritual health a priority.
I will continually expand my comfort zone.
I will fuck women from all over the world.

How do I plan on achieving these goals this year?

I am still travelling six months of the year, early in 2016 I decided the majority of 2017 would be about shark diving; I'm booked up till the end of August with a total of 7 shark or whale diving trips. I have also agreed to a trekking trip in Ecuador and a "extreme" jungle survival course in the Amazon later in the year.

2017 / 2018 specific goals:

Map out a path for an exit from the oil industry.

Losing my brother made me realise that regardless of the money I am making and getting half the year off to travel... being locked away for half of my life just isn't worth it, even with the amount of time I carve out for personal improvement while I'm at work. Don't get me wrong, I realise how fortunate I have been in my career, and I am far from ungrateful.

So, the basic plan is already set out. I have set two dates, January 2022 and January 2024. Anywhere between those two dates would be ideal.

This goal encompasses two major parts.

Financial independence.

The dates I've chosen, is how long it's going to take me to become completely financially independent... in theory. Based on the assumption I will continue earning similar money and that I stick to the budgets I've planned.

The budget is simple enough, save 80% of my wages and invest the money in a mixture of property and something else (yet to be decided, but likely an Index fund). So far my performance, in terms of what I am saving has been better than I predicted.

Any passive income I earn will be saved rather than spent. The remaining 20% will be my travel money, with any remaining funds being added to the pile of savings. I still have to work/learning to do about potential investment options and other passive income streams... I'd like to find other ways to increase the amount of money I can throw into the pot.

My plan after leaving.

In a nutshell, I want to start some form of adventure travel company... but I want I don't want to have to rely on the business financially, ideally my passive income would support me.

I am aiming to get the company moving before I actually leave the oil industry, in order to make that viable, I am going to have to undertake some serious training which is going to be the main focus for 2018.

Spread my brother's ashes.

I think this process is going to be very cathartic for me. I've decided to spread my brother's ashes at different locations as I travel, last month I placed some just off the coast of Bimini in the Bahamas, the place was crawling with Great Hammerheads.

I've also started to think about a cremation tattoo.

So that's the plan for me moving forward.

I figure I am due a quick update.

Reading over last year's post, I feel I have made some pretty big steps;
The dates I've chosen, is how long it's going to take me to become completely financially independent... in theory. Based on the assumption I will continue earning similar money and that I stick to the budgets I've planned.
I am still on target for "retirement" at some point between these two dates.
The budget is simple enough, save 80% of my wages and invest the money in a mixture of property and something else (yet to be decided, but likely an Index fund). So far my performance, in terms of what I am saving has been better than I predicted.

I feel this worked really well last year. I actually over performed, saving around £10K more than I predicted I would.

I spent a lot of my free time in 2017 in the water with big animals, I did also manage to complete the extreme jungle survival course I mentioned in my last post. That was intense... six nights alone in the jungle with only a machete, a fire strike, a water bottle and some iodine.

I'll start working on a post for 2018 and will follow up when it's complete.

Mission Statement

I will not live forever; time is the most precious commodity I have. I will live a life full of amazing experiences and be proactive in the pursuit of my dreams, always being true to my core values.

I will continually push myself out of my comfort zone at every given opportunity, and through my actions I will encourage and inspire others to do the same. My personal relationships will be built on a foundation of mutual respect and trust; I will be open and honest in regards to my desires and intentions and shall accept no less than the same in return. I will make it a priority to offer value to the people I care about, complete strangers and the world in general, while actively seeking out and filling my life with things that I value.

I will not live in fear of my own success, nor will I stop myself from achieving my full potential. Positive experiences are attracted to me, and through them I will continue to grow into a more centered, confident and social individual, a person with a substantial set of personal values, a mass of life experience and an acute sense of self worth, which I will base internally.

I will strive to continually improve myself by taking full advantage of all presented opportunities to grow and as a result; I will gain a better understanding of who I am.

I will achieve my goals through effort and focused dedication, embracing the positive and negative with open arms. I will make decisions based on my core values, and accept the consequences of these decisions regardless of the outcome.

I’m a wiser, stronger and more centered person today than I was yesterday, a testament to the fact that life is an extraordinary thing.

This is who I am.

Continuous Life Goals

I will live a life worthy of a biography.
I will make it a priority to travel to isolated places that few people have been.
I will have a positive impact on the people in my life.
I will continually improve myself.
I will make my physical, mental and spiritual health a priority.
I will continually expand my comfort zone.
I will fuck women from all over the world.
I will become financially independent.

How I plan on achieving these goals this year:

I am still travelling for six months of the year. I am planning to continue until I have enough passive income to leave and maintain my current lifestyle.

I dived with around 15 different species of sharks in 2017, including Bulls and Tigers. I still haven't managed to get out of a cage with a Great White, but it's definitely something I still want to do. The extreme jungle survival course was a blast, but also very mentally challenging... I was pleased when it was done.

I've started looking into taking part of a Guide qualification specifically related to a jungle environment, I'm also hoping to complete a UK based qualification called Mountain Leader. I was planning to complete the Dive Master certification during the summer of 2018, but... I haven't heard from the company I was due to train with, I am planning to send them one more email before writing them off and postponing the Dive Master for a year.

I decided late last year that I wanted to keep 2018 as clear as possible in order to give me a little flexibility in my planning as most of 2017 was booked by mid 2016.

Still hitting the gym hard when I am at work, I've also been vegan for just over 9 months. I haven't struggled with this at all, I can't say it's for everyone, but it's definitely for me.

Financial independence.

Last year I was working on a 80% saving rule, basically meaning I would save 80% of my wages and survive on the remaining 20% for the months I was off work. I feel this system actually worked really well. I trialed a 90% saving rate for January, but have decided that it's a little extreme... like, I was broke as fuck after covering my logistic costs. I have a couple of expensive hobbies, and I don't see why I should have to give them up for what is effectively another three trips at work.

I've also been working with a financial adviser who's been really helpful in offering advice about what I should be doing to maximise my efficiency while I am still working, but also offered some insights on what my costs are going to be once I stop working.

I bought my second rental property recently which has more than doubled my passive income. 90% of this money is going directly into my pile of savings with the remaining 10% being locked away for maintenance.

I've also taken a high risk gamble on some Crypto-currency, I am planning to sit on that for a couple of years, unless I the fund reaches an amount where it could shave off something close to 2 years from my planned exit date.

Looking to buy a third rental property in the coming months.

All in all, as long as I keep myself in check, everything is going according to plan. I could do a little bit more work on figuring out exactly what I am spending my money on, there's definitely gaps there.

The six year anniversary of PX2 was a couple of days ago, and I've now been travelling for five years. I am right where I need to be right now, I just need to keep walking the path.

Well overdue an update on this.

It's been awhile since I read my mission statement and looked through my goal list. Happy to report that both of these still feel congruent with me and I have continued to progress even without a regular review of my last post.

Shout out to Bravo for keeping this site up and running. I personally really appreciate it, and I'd bet there's a small army of guys out there that feel the same way, this place was really something.

Anyway, I'll post the update as soon as it's done.
