I would add that no one is harder to take down than a wrestler either. A wrestler who can strike? Who knows about angles and how to line up multiple opponents and make them get in each others way?

Karate is cool like most martial art's I am sure they have a lot of cool things going on.

But you say ground fighting makes you uncomfortable? Does fighting in general sound comfortable? Let alone street fighting?

You need to be comfortable in uncomfortable scenarios. Just like approaching is really scary at first you need to be able to operate from the ground,standing clinch etc...

If were talking about actual fighting and not an "art".

You guys are right, I should work on my ground fighting and I definitely will!

Talked a bit with a military friend of mine, he did the opposite of what I intended to do (he started muay thai after passing his black belt in Shito-ryu karate), he said that the biggest difference he saw is that karate and martial arts in general have much more different moves which is good if you like to learn lots of different techniques (which is my case).

I think I will check out karate and a ground-based fighting style (BJJ, wrestling, sambo?), after my exams, of course.
