Happy Thanksgiving. Are you thankful?

Post by Bravo »

Happy Thanksgiving guys!

Mate you thankful for the life you are living? The life you have earned?

Or did you squander another year with planning and should of/would of's.

If you did, then now is the time to start planning on making 2015 your bitch.

1 month of planning left.

That is what I would like to be thankful for.

:)
Respectfully,
Bravo

Good list!

One thing I learned. And now do. Is giving

1. Time frames for each goal. Days. Or months or years is fine. Just deadlines.

2. More descriptions. Chopper. What kind. What color. What's special about it. Etc.

3. More specific goals. As specific as possible and any goals you need before them to reach. Eg. Motorcycle riding class and license.

:)

I still check my original goal list and hit all of mine so far.

:D.

Something I'm going to lead come the new year
Respectfully,
Bravo

On the expert guitarist point, I have a few thoughts. First off, bump up the time you spend practicing. One hour a day should be a bare minimum. But it doesn't have to be all in one block. You could practice a half an hour, then do other things, and later come back to it for another half hour block. My focus starts to fade at the 25 minute mark, depending on the style of practice that I do, so I set a timer for either 20 minutes or 25, and then I take a 10 minute break.

The break time lets you rest your body, but you also end up coming up with new ideas during this time. I would highly recommend getting a journal to write down any new ideas or discoveries about technique or musicality or practice methods. You'll find that most of your improvements will come from remembering what you've learned and since forgotten, and the rest will come from insights that you won't want to lose track of after a week or two. The journal is also a good place to mark down what you've worked on each day, so you can remember how you were working on something, and where you left off on it.

As for the memorization, that should be more than just a challenge for yourself. Expect it of yourself. A lot of memorization comes from thinking through things without the instrument. The easiest route is to listen to what you're trying to memorize — over and over and over. And while you're listening, spend some of that time visualizing yourself playing through it. The more time you spend listening, the less time you'll have to spend with the instrument to get the same results.

I'm not a guitarist, but I am a professional violinist. I went to school for violin performance, and playing and teaching is all that I do for a living. It's what I do best. If you've got any questions, let me know. I can't help with guitar technique, but anything else is fair game.

Thanks guys, I've started to go through and add more details to each goal and I've added deadlines to the overall goal and also to my next action steps.

ex: I used to always want a green Honda Fury until I went through a harley shop two weeks ago (had a raging motorcycle boner the whole time) so I just added to my list "pick out harley by christmas 2014." With my goal of getting the bike april of 2016.

I still need to add the why to most of them, I'm going to do that as soon as I finish this post. Thanks Bravo!

On the guitar, thanks for the advice Syrrah. I have to do that 25 on 10 off when I'm doing my homework, I just didn't really connect the dots that it would help with the guitar too. Thanks for the journal idea, I'm definitely going to implement that.

Goals for 2015:

Learn to play the guitar:
Why do I want to learn to play guitar; I have always enjoyed listening to famous guitar players, the way the music just seems to appear out of thin air. It makes me feel alive just listening to the purity of something so alien. I will become adapt at guitar by June 30 2015. I will be able to play 15 songs in full including solos.I will practice a minimum of an hour a day, taking breaks while playing to improve my technique. I will also listen and study my favorite guitar players. Also this will help me improve my ability with women by showing depth.

Become better with women:
Why do I want to be better with women; I have always been nervous to speak with beautiful women and never felt deserving, now that I feel I deserve more from my life. I feel that I should learn the correct way to be attractive and hold myself accountable for my failures. I will have had 50 dates by June 30 2015. I will go out at least twice a week, to social settings to speak with women. I will incorporate the mannerisms of the greatest pick up artist while still staying true to myself. This will not be my life but I will allow it to be free flowing and organic.

Travel outside of the United States at least once:
Why do I want to travel; I have always been obsessed with Japanese culture, the ideas, the difference of opinions and world views. I want to experience a whole new world, not just a limited view of it. I will go to Canada for a week July 30 2015. This will be my start of moving around the world. I will get a visa. Research popular sites and become adapt at being able to view things on multiple levels.

Learn French:
Why do I want to learn French; I have always been interested in languages due to the ability to convey thoughts and mannerisms of different cultures. Learning French will help me travel to Canada if I go to Quebec. I will be able to converse in French easily by July 30 2015. I will spend an hour a day, listening and learning French through books like Rosetta Stone. This will also help me be more sophisticated and cultural, expanding my views and thoughts.

Become a better rock climber:
Why do I want to rock climb better; I have always enjoyed rock climbing, but I have always started and stopped. Next year I will spend a lot of free time climbing. By June 30 2015, I will be a steady v5 climber. This will improve my strength and fitness. I will also be able to meet new people.

Purchase a vehicle:
Why do I want a vehicle; for the past year I have been stuck depending on others. I want to have a little more freedom. With this it will allow me to achieve my other goals more successfully. By February 30 2015, I will have saved 2,000$ to purchase a vehicle.

Make 60,000$:
Why I want to make this; this will allow me to pursue my goals easier, safe money and feel more successful. This will be accomplished by December 31 2015.

Take two or three college classes:
This is just for personal development, if you are not moving forwards you are moving backwards. This will be accomplished by December 31 2015.

Become a better dancer:
I have always enjoyed to dance. I just haven't been very good at it. This is just another fun activity that will help me improve myself and my goals and be more successful with life. This will be a year long goal. I will have learned 7 dances by December 31 2015.
