Just in the last 2 weeks.

Water shortage in Ohio, water in stores GONE.

Last night looting in St. Louis.

What have you done in the last 30 days to prepare, to protect yourself and your loved ones?

We just had the big panic over Hurricanes Iselle & Julio. I'm sure that you saw it all over the news.

Same thing happened here, without the riots. The stores quickly ran out of bottled water, canned goods, SPAM (because it's the thing here, don't ask me why, it just is), and toilet paper (because we live on an island, and it takes a week for tp to get here by barge, and if they shut down the docks for a storm, then it will take even longer). Costco's gas lines were crazy busy.

I already had a case of water on standby. Managed to buy a new case, then simply filled a bunch of bottles, pitchers, buckets, and more bottles with tap water (because tap water here in HI is pretty good, and I have a PUR filter on my tap to make sure it's even cleaner). I always seem to have a bunch of bottles, pitchers, buckets, and more bottles lying around the home, so I simply have to make sure that they're clean, then simply filling them when emergencies arise.

Already had a month supply of freeze-dried ramen and two weeks worth of canned goods in the pantry. Added a case of canned soup. TheGirlfriend got some healthier stuff from Whole Foods that is still shelf-stable.

I have a butane gas stove with about a week's worth of fuel. I may add one more week's worth. Also have two huge bags of charcoal, a chimney starter, gas lighters, and a box of matches, so starting a fire shouldn't be a problem.

And of course, a month's supply of condoms ;)

Well I have the Sawyer mini, and a Sawyer 2 liter gravity filter in my BOB already.

Already have 3 ways to make fire: Magnesium fire starter, Ferro rod, and waterproof matches.

Last week I added 5 conibear traps. They are a little heavy. But since they hunt overnight and while I am building shelter, getting water, or getting wood for fire; they are definitely worth their weight.

Also went to shooting range last week with friends:)

I am a good 13 miles away from the Rioting. Shit is still going strong if not harder tonight. It is a fucking mess:

Live REDDIT FEED:

I just got a few more mags for my AR15s, over 1000 more rounds, 200rds of 00buck, and 4 extra mags for my XDm9 (holds 19+1 for a total of 115rds of 9mm in one package). I have a solid brick of 450rds of 9mm and 250rds of Critical Defense. Don't get me on how much .45acp I recently loaded or the .308 ammo for my M1A.

I have my normal stock of 30 days of food and 2 water filtration units.

Nice set up

Care to share more about how to store, and what your grab and go gear is/set up?

Why 45 and 9?

How were things last night?

Conibear traps?

What's the point in have fire starters instead of just buying a case of disposable lighters?

Shit got REAL last night. Looting came within 2 miles of my front door. A few hours before that, I hopped in my truck and got my girl and her roommate out of a potential danger zone (please tell me someone used ARCHER's "Dangah Zone" voice when they read that).

For preps, I will get into my Bug-Out Bag more when I get back from my Tuesday Class at the shooting range (started teaching people how to shoot and properly use a firearm). BUT...I will say that I have a very large network of people that are all over the St. Louis area as well as outside. If shit goes full Ragnarok, I can bug-out and head damn near anywhere.

REason for .45acp instead of 9mm reloading? At the time, all of the 9mm reloading equip was GONE and hard to find. No one seemed to give a shit about .45acp. I have 9 pistols chambered in .45acp, 12 chambered in 9mm, and....4 chambered in .40s&w. I also have the .22lr pistols for my roommate and her friend as well as all 3 AR15s ready with 10 Pmags each and over 1000 extra rounds, 3 Mossberg 500s and an addition 2 boxes of 00buck for each shotgun.

Disposable lighters are good to have. But, like all things, lighters can fail, break, leak, etc etc. Good idea to have a few type of ways to start fire. The Ferro rods and magnesium fire starters are great backups to lighters and matches.

If you bug out of the city, and decide to make camp miles away deep in the woods, conibear traps can be set to catch small-medium size game.

You can set these up and while you are making camp. Then you will be able to catch squirrel, opossum, raccoon, beaver, ext....

I carry 3 days of food in my Bob, so after that, I will be eating what I kill or forage.

I also have the ability to make smokeless fires, they are great if you do not want the smoke to give away your position:)
