Gotta disagree with you Nicolo to some degree

I dont think he is eating to much oatmeal,if anything ,if his workouts for really intense he will need some carbs to restore glucose levels, but props to you ice.I dont see how you can eat 2 cups of oatmeal at once,1 cup and i feel like ima throw up.

but i would increase protein for sure..I would aim for atleast 180grams of protein a day, keep carbs around 100 grams, max 150

you do need to start cosuming protein RIGHT after you workout, that shake will come in handy

He is trying to lose weight so he should not be eating carbs like that. Its all about goals. You're right about replenishing glycogen, but its not really congruent with the goal of weight loss. When glycogen is depleted the body uses gluconeogenisis to create glucose from protein which usually comes from the muscle, which is why he needs to up his protein so he doesnt lose muscle, but it will also burn fat as fuel. I want him to be depleted of glycogen so his body burns fat.

Neither of us are wrong but it just depends on what his goals are. :)

100-150 grams of carbs would probaly be ok though depending on his insulin sensitivity. Solid recommendation bro

You are right man.

I have to remind myself also, I am not a natty lifter..so my diet i can be more liberal with vs other people here

My only issuie with low carbs is going flat, and lossing energy .

But the best method to my knowledge is carb cycling.Shed fat and retains muscle mass.Im not aware of the sceince behind it, I just know it works.

I know what you mean about the carb thing. There is defintely line that can be crossed where you on one side I will fell great with a certain amount of carbs (somewhere around 150 Grams) but if I go too low I get tired and lose strength.

Carb backloading worked really well for me. When I get off this shift work at my job I will probably go back to it. I think it works because you always have somewhere for your body to store glycogen whether it immediately used, stored in the muscle or liver and not turned into stored body fat.

Thanks Nicolo, stone, and local

All good info. I've cut out oatmeal in my day - had no idea about that.

I have been keeping steady with my diet - replenishing my energy with protein, veggies, and fruit.

I've been debating whether to start a new 2014 thread this year, or continue with this one. I will create a new one and start fresh.

Appreciate you guys continue to look out for my posts. I'm already seeing the changes in my body - trimmer and flatter stomach... would love to level up my body this year. Thanks. Ice
