I've seen a few Akido ones that look a little complex and like the guy holding the gun isn't holding it firmly.

I noticed you mentioned aikido.
There are some videos out there that look like the people being thrown aren't even being touched and looks like the person being thrown is throwing themselves, I assure you this is not the case.
Let me find you a video of o - sensei .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxxb2ctulEs this illustrates my point, some of the rolls are them going with the technique to not be harmed, but if you look at some of the others he's barely even touching them yet they go flying.
There is another slightly more offensive form of aikido, and while I never practiced it, if you want to see some kick ass gun disarms here ya go..

Again it's slightly more offensive, you'll see some knee hits and a few other, we never went into that because it is counter to the original principle of not harming your opponent unless neccesary.
I watched your video, it's a similar principle with a few main differences, in your video they grab the gun and move it out of line of fire to you.
In aikido we would grab the wrist and pull down while moving ourselves out of the line of fire, as you come up you twist the wrist loosing the opponents grip on the gun and allow the energy of you getting up as they pull back, the second their energy goes from forward to back as you pull the wrist down you arm bar the neck still fluidly moving yourself out of the line of fire and making them fall onto their backs (or moving them forward by the arm and flipping them while you grab the gun). As in i'm sure any martial art there are multiple ways to do the same thing.
Personally I like the aikido way of doing it more because in the video you showed me it seems you go on the offense and then have to do something else after all that kicking, In aikido it's much quicker and you completely end the fight because you have their gun and they are on the ground in one single motion.

Oh and just as a reference if that sounds complicated...
The one real downside to aikido, is it's very much an inner martial art, so if you take the classes for a year or two, you're probably going to know just enough aikido to get your ass kicked.
I've taken aikido for 3.5 years and I probably still fit into that category. But once mastered aikido is AMAZINGLY effective, it just takes a lot longer to master than most or at least some martial arts, because of how complicated it can be.
and for a bonus, the reason why you're taught to fall first.
